Iran's media on Friday published footage and images of calm scenes in the country after an unclaimed aerial attack hit Isfahan province. Air defenses intercepted three drones, an Iranian official said, after reports of explosions near an army base in the central region. Isfahan airport was operating as normal after airports were earlier closed around the country, according to semi-official Tasnim news. Meanwhile, in the northwest city of Tabriz — where air defenses were also activated —video showed normal traffic and pedestrians in parks and on the streets. The Quds Force is an elite unit that handles Iran’s overseas operations – and one designated as a terrorist organization by the US and Saudi Arabia. Riyadh severed ties with Tehran in 2016 after Iranian protesters stormed the Saudi embassy in the capital following the execution of a Shiite Muslim cleric in Saudi Arabia. The recent détente however brought hopes of long-lasting peace as Saudi Arabia redirects its resources toward economic development. Iranian and Saudi teams competed last month for the first time in seven years in Iran, where billboards in the streets welcomed the Saudi teams in English, Arabic and Farsi. Iranian soccer fans have also been seen wearing Saudi team jerseys after the kingdom’s clubs made high-profile purchases of international soccer stars.

BENGALURU, Feb 27 (Reuters) - Apparel retailer Fabindia on Monday said it has withdrawn its 40 billion rupee ($482.4 million) initial public offering amid rough market conditions, becoming the latest company to scrap listing plans as interest rate worries pressure stock markets. "The decision to withdraw was taken as the current market conditions were not seen to be conducive for listing," a Fabindia spokesperson said in a statement. Fabindia had planned a fresh issue of shares worth 5 billion rupees and a sale of up to 25.1 million in existing shareholders' stock. The company may reconsider filing an IPO in the future, depending on its need for growth capital and the market conditions," the company said. Jewellery retailer Joyalukkas, e-commerce firm Snapdeal and wearable electronics company boAt have all pulled their IPOs due to uncertain market conditions.
BENGALURU, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Indian digital payments firm (WMT.N) PhonePe said on Tuesday it has raised $100 million from Ribbit Capital, Tiger Global and TVS Capital Funds in a funding round that valued the Walmart Inc-backed company at $12 billion. The latest round is part of PhonePe's primary fundraise that took place last month through which the company raised $350 million from General Atlantic. Having raised $450 million in six weeks, PhonePe said it expects to raise the rest from global and Indian investors in due course. Despite a funding winter, the Indian digital payments space has been a bright spot due to the popularity of online payments and startups' ambitions to branch into the lucrative financial services space. PhonePe, in which U.S. retail giant Walmart has had a majority stake since 2018, completed its separation from Indian e-commerce major Flipkart last year.
Four people emerged almost unscathed from a car crash off a 250-foot cliff on Monday. Professor Jahan Rasty cited several Tesla safety features that likely helped. If too much of a moving car's energy is suddenly directed into people's bodies, they will die. Car safety design is all about dissipating that energy away from the passengers. Tesla roofs "are about 30% stronger in terms of crash resistance" than a regular car, Rasty said.
Southwest’s software wasn’t designed to solve problems of that scale, Chief Operating Officer Andrew Watterson said Thursday, forcing the airline to revert to manual scheduling. Unlike some large rivals with hub-and-spoke networks, Southwest planes hopscotch from city to city, which may have been another complicating factor. Mr. Alamzad said the most serious IT challenge airlines face stems from the applications developed in silos by vendors or the airlines themselves. Southwest recently completed an upgrade of its new reservation system and had been working through multiyear upgrades to systems used in its operations. Other carriers have given priority to upgrading customer-facing reservations platforms and flier loyalty programs over operations systems, Mr. Alamzad said.
